Registration, Benefits & Impact

The PM Swamitva Yojana is a landmark initiative by the Government of India aimed at empowering rural citizens through formal property ownership. Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in April 2020, the SVAMITVA Scheme (Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) seeks to provide legal ownership of residential properties in rural India using modern technology.

At the heart of this initiative is the Swamitva Property Card, a legal document that can transform the lives of millions in rural villages.

Properties in Swamitva-covered villages are now easier to identify — explore options with verified ownership details.

What is the Swamitva Property Card Scheme?

The Swamitva Scheme is designed to issue official ownership documents, called Swamitva Property Cards, to people living in inhabited areas of rural villages. Through drone surveying and GIS mapping technologies, the scheme aims to create accurate land records for residential properties in rural settlements.

As of now, 31 States and Union Territories have joined the scheme, helping streamline rural property registration and minimizing land ownership disputes. The scheme is implemented by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj in collaboration with the Survey of India, State Revenue Departments, and local panchayats.
